Activity level - fitness level and hiking experience
Hiking is open to anyone and guide job is to help and support your hiking. But if your level is way too far against what you want, it is just a mismatch. Although we are happy and honored to support your "challenge," the mismatch is not fun. To avoid that mismatch, we divide the levels. At each plan, we put the recommended level. This is not perfect idea and we will ask your level of fitness and experience before you make a booking, so please let us know.
Level 1 - first time hiker or beginner
- never hiked before, but excise regularly
- hiking experience is day hike only
- durable to hike for 4-6 hours
Level 2 - intermediate
- have been hiking more than a few years and have experience of overnight hiking
- know what to bring and can organize what you do on the mountain
- durable to hike 6-10 hors each day
Level 3 - advanced
- have been hiking for long time including multiday hiking
- enjoy mountain activity all year around (rock climbing, skiing or snowboarding, snowshoeing etc.)
- durable to hike 8- 12 hours each day

Rental gear
It is very important to have proper mountain gears especially when we go to alpine area. Those gears protect you and make your trip comfortable. Please check what to bring on our guiding page and we will give you details when you made a booking of our trip. Ideally you want to use your own gears. We do not have rental equipment service yet. Here is one of the rental companies for your hike. You do not have to carry mountain gears all the time with you while you are in Japan.
Yamarent
Hut reservation (multiday hike)
For the guest who choose multiday hike with us, you do not have to make a booking of mountain hut.
This is how it works.
1st step: You contact us that you want to do multiday hike with us
2nd step: We check the availability of the hut and make a reservation of the hut
3rd step: We let you know the hut reservation is confirmed and we can confirm your hiking trip with us.
4th step: You make a payment for the hut at the site
It is a little complicating, but the mountain hut capacity is limited. If there no is availability of the hut, some of the trips do not happen.
Other option is to bring and stay at a tent. Please talk to us if you want to stay at a tent.
Transportation
Depending on the number of guests and where to go, transportation from your place to the trailhead and the trailhead to your next place will change. It can be our car, rental car, bus, train or taxi. The price on the plan page includes guiding fee only. We help to organize the transportation to get and return, then we ask you to pay the cost (adding to the guiding fee.) The transportation cost will be shown before you make a booking. So please let us know your pick up and drop off location.
Insurance
We do not provide any insurance. We would strongly recommend you to have insurance to cover mountain accident (rescue, hospital, transprtation etc.) Please check if your travel insurance covers mountain accident for hiking activity or not. We have never had severe accident yet in our guiding. Also, the guide is trained regularly for first aid.
